Heart-racing and exhilarating, The Fast and the Furious has a multi-layer car racing story as its focus. Muscle-flexing Vin Diesel stars and the film brings to light the harsh realities of the Asian automotive import sector. Slick cop Brian O'Connor is asked to bring down a group of thieves, who use Honda Civics that have been modified to steal merchandise by forming a friendship with street racers. He gets stuck in a street racing event in the desert in a 1970 Dodge Charger and ends up racing former prisoner Dom Toretto.
